Our bodies hold a wealth of information.
When we listen and respond to our bodies' messages, then healing can come swift and easy. (Click to tweet.)
But sometimes, a part of our body aches and yells and raises havoc and we attempt everything to make it feel better, but it still doesn’t respond.
That’s when this activity can help.
With the start of 2017, the muscles of my throat have been oddly tight and uncomfortable. I attempted stretching, I attempted showing up in the world and using my voice in a bigger way, I attempted acupuncture and essential oils. All were helping a little, but it was still so tight and uncomfortable.
So I decided to stop running around the issue and go straight to the source. I turned to this activity that has helped me again and again (hear a few more stories in the how-to video below): Body Part Letters.
I wrote my throat a letter asking it what the heck was going on and what it needed from me. And then, I took a deep breath and let my throat respond.
The response was a mix of feelings and a whole lot of old patterns getting stuck. It was as if little girl Kelsey was manifesting in my throat and she was pissed! For all the times I stayed quiet, for all the times I said yes when I meant no, for the times when I was polite or held back what I was feeling for fear of what others would think of me.
In addition to all this past stuck-ness, my throat also offered suggestions. She literally said, “You need to yell. Raise fire through me.” It seems little girl Kelsey wants the space and permission to let it rip. So I've been doing the Yoga Breath of Fire and yelling on and off through the day (in the comfort of my own home, of course)!
The information I received helped me know how to love and support myself as I’m healing my throat and helped me understand the emotional aspects connected to the physical discomfort.
Every single person I’ve shared this with has had incredible results.
Now, you may be thinking, Ok, sure, but does this really work? Well, there’s only one way to find out. Watch the video and give it a shot.
I would love to hear how this went for you! Tell me about it in the comments below or send me a message at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Until next time!
